who is your audienceWho is your audience? Think you know them? Have you asked? You might want to check again.

A college business-class instructor asked his students to come up with an app for seniors. They talked amongst themselves and decided the perfect app was Bingo. The instructor smiled. He had them go out and actually ask seniors if Bingo was their preferred app. They came back with their tail between their legs. Oops! Not only was it not their app, they were offended. Bingo is for old people – how dare they!

Back to class to brainstorm again, only this time they would interview to find out who their real audience is.

Do you know the speaking (target) audience for your topic? Do your brainstorming, but research and interview.

When you identify your target audience you will be able to better identify the best topic for them based on their interests.
